Adela Shephard

Charitable Fundraising Manager

Adela Shephard has over 15 year’s experience of working in the charitable sector, in both national and local organisations. Starting as a fundraiser for a branch of the British Red Cross, Adela has developed her skills and knowledge to include the full fundraising portfolio and taken a pivotal role in organisational strategy and operations.

For eight years, Adela led the Wales and West fundraising team for Marie Curie Cancer Care, also taking national responsibility for fundraising volunteers and the fundraising for their ten Hospices. Adela also set up the regional fundraising team for Mencap before joining UHCW Charity.

She has a passion for the third sector and has been involved with the G-Nation volunteering scheme and with the Treasury on the introduction of the Gift Aid Scheme. Adela is an active member of the Institute of Fundraising and has served on their Committee for Wales as well as provided training/workshops at conventions.

Adela joined UHCW Charity in Jan 2009, to establish their fundraising operation and support Charity governance. In this time she has initiated a regional group for Hospital Charities, to share best practise.

The UHCW Charity is managed by a Corporate Trustee Board and is one of the Association’s smallest member charities.
