Sarah Talbot-Williams

Chief Executive

Above and Beyond Charities

Sarah’s early career started in national newspapers and then she worked in London and Brussels influencing public policy.

In 1995, Sarah returned to the UK and became a Director of Communications and Campaigning in the voluntary sector. Over 15 years, her roles at Sense, Mencap, her own consultancy, and CLIC Sargent gave her significant experience in strategic planning and organisational management, government lobbying, fundraising strategy, media relations and communications. Sarah also led the change management programme during the merger which created CLIC Sargent and towards the end of her five years there, she became Chief Executive. In all these charities, she has been involved with the NHS as a partner/funder.

In 2009, Sarah became Director of Above and Beyond, the NHS Charity for University Hospitals Bristol and one of the founder members of the Association of NHS Charities. She is in the process of finalizing a strategic review, which will lay out a five year plan particularly focusing on fundraising development, fund management and effective grant making.

In addition to her paid work experience, Sarah has significant experience as a member (non-executive) of Boards and Councils, large and small, from being a staff representative on staff works councils at the CBI and Mencap, to being a University Governor at Bath Spa University, and a Trustee for Leaps and Bounds, a charity working in the children’s sector.
